Meet the Masters Print E-mail

The ARTS are essential parts of the human experience, they are not a frill.  Children today are growing up in a highly visual world, surrounded by the images of television, videos, advertising displays, and other media.  Meet the Masters is an art curriculum purchased by the PTA and implemented by parent volunteers.

This program teaches art appreciation through multimedia presentations.  Our children learn about the lives and works of master artists through slide show assemblies.  For each artist, there are 3 steps to this art program.
  1. There will be assemblies divided into four presentations (Kindergarten, 1st-2nd grade, 3rd-4th grade, and 5th-6th grade).
  2. Once they have learned the background and style of the artist, their teacher will do a learning packet in the classroom that reviews the art element previously introduced in the assembly.
  3. The last step is a classroom art activity led by parent volunteers related to the master artist by subject matter, technique, or medium.
For the 2011-2012 school year, we will study 5 master artists:
Rembrandt, Hokusai, Degas, Homer, Kahlo

Classroom Project Supplies
A group of volunteer parents spend a lot of time preparing the meet the master art supplies.  Their efforts make it easy for classroom Docents to show up and lead the art project with students.  It is important for each class to sign up to use the Art Room.  Please schedule your classroom projects using the MTM Art Room Calendar.

Please be considerate to others, do not show up and use the supplies without signing up on this calendar.  If you need to reschedule, please take the time to remove your class from the calendar.

Thank You.
